Misty Copeland has been chosen as the honorary chair for National Library Week. Mark your calendars for April 8-14, because it will be a great week to celebrate our fabulous library. Misty Copeland is an accomplished ballet dancer and author, so she knows a lot about telling a good story in many different ways. I've included some suggestions below, some books about interesting dancers and of course, those by Misty Copeland herself.

The jungle animals are having a musical celebration! Mouse squeaks, Bird tweets, and Centipede taps his feet. Then more animals hear the music and want to join in, as Monkey, Warthog, and Crocodile bring their own music-making talents to the group. But what is that silly Hippo doing?

Today is National Dance Day! Celebrate with a dance story or stop by our CD collection in the Children's Department for some boogie-worthy tunes. I've included a few suggestions for books about dance below, but you can always find more under the subject headings for fiction and nonfiction dance books. If you're feeling especially groovy today, come show me your best dance moves.

Families with young children can join us for a freestyle dance party for our littlest patrons. Everyone gets movin' and groovin' to some great dance tunes.
This program is for new walkers up to 5 years old with their caregivers.

Come shed weight within and without with BollyFit. Anuja Rajendra, founder of Bollyfit, a program of fitness through Indian dance, teaches it all over Metro Detroit.
