Holds Pickup by Appointment

In addition to the in-library hold shelf, and curbside service, we provide an option for pre-checked out items to be picked up in the lobby.  This service is available by appointment only.

  • Select the items you wish to check out from the catalog and put a hold on them. 

  • We will notify you via e-mail or text when your items are ready.

  • The notification has a link to a scheduling system. Sign up online and schedule a pickup time.

  • At your scheduled time, come to the library lobby to pick up your holds. Follow all social distancing procedures, remain 6 feet away from other people in the area, wear a mask, don't come if you feel ill or have been in contact with someone who is ill.  If additional holds are ready for pick-up at the time of your scheduled appointment, they will be added to your order.

  • Return items, payments and account issues cannot be handled at the pickup station. Please put returns in the outdoor slot and call 734-397-0999 or email cplemail@cantonpl.org with any questions or concerns.

Available Holds

Busy week? Our staff is here to help you! Patrons with a Canton or Plymouth Library card can place holds on available items. Simply browse our on-line catalog for books, DVDs, CDs, video games - we have over 300,000 items to request. Our catalog is available 24 hours a day, so you can browse at your convenience. We will pull the item you request, put it on our hold shelf and notify you when it is ready, usually within 12 hours! And you don’t have to come right in, once you are notified, you have four days to pick up your item.  

Is the item you’re looking for checked out to someone else? No problem, again place a hold and you will be next on the list to receive the item. Even if we don’t have the item, you may be able to request it from another library using the MeLCat system in our catalog. We will have the item delivered and waiting for you.
