Saturday, May 4, 2019 we have an amazing afternoon planned to celebrate Supers vs. Jedi including movies, FREE comic books, crafts and snacks. Check out the schedule below:

11:00 a.m. Movie--Into the Spider-Verse
1:00 p.m.-- Button Maker & Make Your Own Comic
2:00 p.m. Movie-- Star Wars: the Last Jedi
11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.-- Selfie station in the lobby with backdrops (costumes encouraged)

Do you love Percy Jackson? Have you read the books or seen the movies? Maybe you just want to read the books and know a lot about the world of Percy Jackson and are hoping to go to Camp Half-Blood? If any of that sounds like you, then we have got you covered. Muggles and wizards alike are invited to celebrate all things magical at our Potter Party! Enjoy tasty wizard treats, play games, and make crafts while rocking out to a live musical performance by Tonks and the Aurors. Then connect with other fans over a game of Harry Potter Bingo. Costumes are welcome! Activities and food available while supplies last.

Bad Art Night: Valentines

Bad Art Night is back, just in time for Valentine's Day! Forget Hallmark. This year, present your sweetie with a homemade token of your love instead. We'll provide the supplies and you create an ugly valentine. Join us for this freestyle crafting event on Thursday, February 7, 2019 6:30-8:00 pm - absolutely no skill required!  

Participants will have 45 minutes to create something dreadful. Then, each valentine will be displayed, and light refreshments served, while participants vote for their favorite valentine. The winner will be recognized as the Best Bad Artist of Love and receive a trophy. Space is limited, so reserve your spot now. Good luck!

Special Edition Dungeons & Dragons

Dungeons and Dragons Fifth Edition Player's Handbook Cover

Join us for a special All-Ages Dungeons & Dragons session! 

Families looking to start playing tabletop role-playing games together, seasoned veterans who haven't played in years, and absolute beginners with no experience are welcome to play Dungeons & Dragons with us in a relaxed, supportive environment.

Have fun using your imagination and problem-solving skills while meeting and socializing with others who enjoy role-playing games.

All playing materials will be provided, but feel free to bring your own dice and/or D&D 5th Edition Character Sheet.*

This program is intended for all ages, but will be best suited for those 9 years old and up, and no registration is required.

*For those bringing their own character sheets, we ask that you bring them up to level 5.

International Games Week

International Games Week logo

Celebrate International Games Week and enjoy a variety of gaming experiences at Canton Public Library during the week of November 4-10.  All events are free.  Offerings include:

  • Sunday Funday (Sunday, November 4, 2:00-4:00 PM): Drop in and try out board games.  Come as a group or find some new friends to bond with over a game board.  All ages.  No registration required.
  • Trivia Night @ the Library (Wednesday, November 7, 7:00-8:30 PM): Come solo or as a team to compete for prizes by answering a challenging range of questions on pop culture, sports, science, history, and more.  Ages 13+.  No registration required.
  • Special Edition Dungeons & Dragons  (Thursday, November 8, 7:00-8:30 PM): Roll up some fun in this dice-based role-playing game.  Ages 9-adult.  No registration required.
  • Pokemon Go Community Day (Saturday, November 10, 2:00-4:30 PM): Connect with other Pokemon Go players while enjoying refreshments and recharging stations.  All ages. No registration required.

Bad Art Night

 

Join us for this freestyle crafting event on Tuesday, October 16, 7:00-8:30 pm. We'll provide the art supplies, you create something terrible. Hideous painting,  tacky sculpture,  ghastly drawing,  the sky's the limit - as long as it's bad! 

Participants will have 45 minutes to create something dreadful. Then,  each piece will be displayed and attendees will enjoy light refreshments as they vote for the worst piece of art. The winner will have the distinction of Best Bad Artist and receive the Bad Art trophy. Good luck!  

This program is for 18+. Registration is required.

Speedcubing at CPL

On Saturday, August 4th from 10:00 am to Noon, join our guest, James Hildreth the Michigan representative for the World Cubing Association, as we learn about the sport of competitive speedcubing. Come and learn about cubing, test drive different types of cubes, ask questions, or test your time against others and see if you can reign supreme on the CPL time board! Recommended for patrons aged 8 years old and up.
